Lily Kengen

Lily specialises in contract law and in civil and commercial litigation, including arbitration. She acts as counsel in judicial and arbitration proceedings, as administrative secretary to arbitral tribunals (ICC, CEPANI, ad hoc,…) and also as an arbitrator.

She is a member of CEPANI and of the Steering Committee of CEPANI40. She also holds the C-Build certification from CEPANI.

Since 2020, Lily has been an assistant lecturer in Economic and European law at the University of Mons (2020-2024) and at the Free University of Brussels (since 2023). 

Lily has been a lawyer at the Brussels Bar since 2016. Prior to working at Hanotiau Tossens Goldman, Lily joined Tossens Goldman Gonne in 2019 after working for a top-tier law firm in Brussels.

Lily is involved in the following cases:

  • Representation of a Belgian company specialised in business management in CEPANI arbitration proceedings concerning the termination of a management contract with the company for which it served as managing director, and the consequences of this termination
  • Representation of the Belgian subsidiary of a global energy market leader in a dispute against its subcontractor, a multinational Belgian company, regarding the termination for fault of a contract related to modernization work on certain components of nuclear sites
  • Representation of a Belgian company in enforcement proceedings of a CEPANI arbitration award in Belgium against another Belgian company, a subsidiary of an international group engaged in the trade of petroleum products (including obtaining an exequatur order, conservatory attachments, garnishment proceedings, opposition to attachments, etc.)
  • Representation of a Belgian company in setting aside proceedings initiated by the opposing party against a CEPANI arbitral award, both in interim measures seeking suspension of the award’s enforcement and on the merits of the case
  • Representation of the Federal Holding and Investment Company in multiple investments, including an investment in an Indian fund and in Euronext
